Quilting for a cause-Alzheimer's Disease.
Alzheimer quilts are lap size quilts made from blocks of fabrics other then cottons. Any type of fabric that is tactile in nature is perfect for these quilts.
This memory robbing disease is very sad for the family members. I once watched a devoted husband cry after his wife talked about him as if he were her brother. Married over 60 years-just heart wretching.
A guild member suggested a unique place to gather free fabric for these quilts-your local upholstery shop or Lazy Boy gallery. Last year's samples can be cut into 6" blocks, sewn together, and backed with flannel or fleece-no batting needed. Learn more about these quilts by visiting AFA Quilt to Remember
